Laromlab: Brandon Harrod, is a grown up man, somewhere between 25 and 35. Its not a teenage kiddo. He is very much aware of what he is doing, the seriousity of it etc. As I said on pouet, if this was just a kid I wouldnt have cared more than that he stopped selling my song claiming it as his. Now this is a married guy who apperantly has alot of money to invest in gear too. Timbaland was about sampling, he refused to clear the sample as he had previously claimed it was composed by him (pride?) and made alot of money. it was still sampling though. Fitts for Fight was two very stupid clueless teenage girls, 15 or 16years old. And atleast they added some "creative" content to their rip-ofs. But this guy, twice their age, and a longtime musician judging by his other myspace profiles photos (http://www.myspace.com/brandonharrod) wasnt even capable of that. So im upset, and I wish that he kills himself, if he lived next door to me, I would probably do it to him myself. Anyway, there was a simular history to this one. This guy nicked other peoples' music, performed it live, pressed records with it, took credit for it, talked about it in podcasts and interviews, got radio attention -- and I don't want to overstate this, but anyone who's been invested (personally speaking) in making music knows that, from a musician's perspective, this kind of thing feels a lot like a kidnapping. His apologies are noted, but they don't offset the offensiveness of the act, and they don't lessen his entitlement to the justified shitstorm of contempt that he's going to be duly contending with for the next little while.
